Nigerian workers have besieged the National Assembly Complex as the House of Representatives holds a public hearing on the New Minimum Wage Bill today.
President Muhammadu Buhari had last week present the executive bill to the legislature , proposing a new minimum wage of N 27, 000.
The bill had passed the first and second readings at the Senate and the House on Thursday, while the Speaker , Mr Yakubu Dogara, had said the bill might be passed on Tuesday ( tomorrow) .
Several lawmakers who spoke on the bill had dismissed the N 27, 000 as “ grossly inadequate ” while insisting on N 30, 000 as recommended by a tripartite committee made up of the government ( federal and states ) , the organised labour and the organised private sector.
